Imported from the U.S.A., we distribute the L'il Back Bracer in South Africa and other countries to individual pet owners, Veterinarians and those involved in animal rehabilitation. The patented L'il Back Bracer is designed to help keep the dog’s back supported when dealing with Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD) and other dog back pain. Designed with input from veterinarians and updated through veterinarian feedback, the bracer is the ideal orthopaedic support brace for all small breeds of dog.
Intervertebral Disk Disease, IVDD, is often seen in small breeds of dogs such as Dachshunds, Pekinese, Beagles, Corgi, Shih Tzu, Maltese, and other small breeds that tend to have longer bodies with short legs. IVDD is especially prevalent in Dachshunds; an estimated 1 in 5 dogs will suffer from this disease. IVDD is a very serious condition and results in intense pain and can even lead to paralysis.
The bracer is used both in rehabilitation as an alternative to surgery, as well as post-surgery in the recovery process, providing overall support. The brace can be used regularly or ‘as needed’ to protect from recurrence and to maintain pain relief. It can be used during crate rest, but it is never an alternative to the crate rest period itself. The bracer has had great results when used to help regain and increase mobility.
Made with medical grade, moisture-wicking, Breathe-O-Prene® fabric, the L'il Back Bracer is comfortable with an ergonomic construction to alleviate pressure on the dog's spine. It is designed to stabilize the back from above and below and is recommended for both treatment and prevention. The brace is snug, adjustable and provides gentle, constant pressure for a calming effect on the nervous system. It has an incorporated D-ring to attach a leash and is easy to put on and take off.
